Website check for the 152-FZ data law

Find out whether your website meets Russia's personal data law: forms and consent, privacy policy, cookies and analytics, data sent abroad. Free, about 20 seconds.

With or without https:// and www.

What we check

Only what is visible on the site from outside, the way a visitor or an inspector sees it.

  1. Roskomnadzor register. Whether the site owner is in the register of those who handle personal data.
  2. Forms and consent. Whether enquiry, booking and sign-up forms ask for consent.
  3. Consent text. Whether the consent text exists and opens.
  4. Privacy policy. Whether a privacy policy is published and easy to find.
  5. Cookies and analytics. Whether the site warns about cookies and analytics such as Yandex Metrica, and does not switch them on too early.
  6. Data sent abroad. Whether visitor data goes to foreign services: analytics, fonts, chats.
  7. Hosting. Where the site's server is: in Russia or abroad.
  8. Secure connection. Whether the site opens over https, so form data cannot be intercepted.

This is an automatic check, not legal advice. It only looks at what is visible on the site from outside.

Common questions

Does the personal data law apply to my website?

Almost certainly, if the site serves people in Russia. An enquiry form, bookings, a cart, a chat or a visitor counter such as Yandex Metrica all collect personal data, so the 152-FZ law applies, even to a small sole trader's site.

How accurate is the check?

The check is automatic and looks at what is visible from outside: forms, documents, cookies, analytics, where data goes, the register entry. How data is stored inside a company cannot be seen from outside. So this is not legal advice. A manual check gives an exact answer.

What are the fines?

Fines are set by Article 13.11 of Russia's Code of Administrative Offences. For example, collecting data without proper consent can cost a company 300,000 to 700,000 ₽ and a sole trader 100,000 to 300,000 ₽. Not notifying Roskomnadzor can cost a company 100,000 to 300,000 ₽ and a sole trader 30,000 to 50,000 ₽.

What does a turnkey fix include?

We write a privacy policy and consent text for your site, fix the forms, add a cookie banner and help you notify Roskomnadzor. A fix starts at 15,000 ₽, a check with a list of fixes at 5,000 ₽. We reply within a day.

Is the check really free?

Yes. No sign-up, all you need is the site address. You can check any site, including a competitor's.
